what is the most common? def of pyruvate kinase or glucoso6phosphate?
how could you differentiated between?

  #2

i guess G6PD def is commonest, and we may differentiate between the two by presence of heinz bodies in G6PD def.

  #3

pyruvate kinase is the most common glycolytic pathway def.
P.K increase in 2,3 BPG and hence shifting of O2 curve to tright.
G6PD = history must say exposure it oxidizing agents. and heinz bodies on smear review. ( if i may suggest every one should know about how it looks)
enzyme essays for both are diagnostic

thank you.

  #5

also G6PD X-linked and self limited, PK is chronic and sustained.

  #6

G6PD is not so self limited if you think about type I with enzyme activity below 2%...

  #7

yes, in rare cases, mutation may decrease the activity of G6PDH to cause chronic nonsherocytic hemolitic anemia. Symptoms of cronic granulomatous disease may develop if G6PDH below 5%, also rare, but that's different d-ses.
