what is the most common? def of pyruvate kinase or glucoso6phosphate? how could you differentiated between?

i guess G6PD def is commonest,and we may differentiate between the two by presence of heinz bodies in G6PD def.

pyruvate kinase is the most common glycolytic pathway def. P.K increase in 2,3 BPG and hence shifting of O2 curve to tright. G6PD = history must say exposure it oxidizing agents. and heinz bodies on smear review. ( if i may suggest every one should know about how it looks) enzyme essays for both are diagnostic

also G6PD X-linked and self limited, PK is chronic and sustained.

G6PD is not so self limited if you think about type I with enzyme activity below 2%...

yes, in rare cases, mutation may decrease the activity of G6PDH to cause chronic nonsherocytic hemolitic anemia. Symptoms of cronic granulomatous disease may develop if G6PDH below 5%, also rare, but that's different d-ses. from kaplan, brs.
