please help me in making a decision As international students/graduates, we're required to have US clinical experience and Letters of recommendations. One of the top medical school that offer visiting clerkships for international students is Harvard for a tuition of 3200 dollars. since this is quite expensive, the question is : Is the clerkship worth the money? Your input in this topic is important, please help me in making my a decision as i am an international students hoping to get a clerkship 4 one month in a good school

Is the money going to the school or another agency. If it's to the school, then it might be worth it. If it's to a private agency, you need to really do your homework and make certain that it is worth the money. Not all programs require USCE - and they are good, strong programs.

hey BBB, thanks 4 the reply ! The money is a direct tuition implemented by Harvard Medical School and NOT a private agency ! but still, lot of good programs require USCE experience so my question is would USCE in a good school make Difference in the CV that makes it worth the money?

That's going to depend on you, your CV and what you think. My program doesn't require UCSE - so I am really not the expert here p.s. I don't answer to the IM messages - sorry!

Personally, from my experience, i will tell u to do it if u can afford it,i.e if money isnt an issue for u. it helps u to get interviews from better places. This is ur chance to get hands on clinical experience, i feel u should grab it while u can as u are still a student.[correct me if i am wrong] even though some places dont req usce, the match gets more and more competitive each year, so with loads of IMG's with one kind of usce or the other.or ukce If u look at profile's of IMG's on this forum with interviews in top hospitals, most of them have USCE or research in top places and sometimes thats all that tips the scale in their favor.look at it this way, lets assume u have 99/99 no usce and there is a candidate with 99/99 usce, who do u think is more attractive to a program even if they dont req usce? I have noticed alot from applyin etc and i would tell u that get anythin that u can that will make u a more competitive candidate. It cant harm u. so if u can afford the money[which is ALOT!] then go for it as long as u are sure its not a scam
