Dear friends,

Can anyone kindly tell me which two joints are NEVER involved in RA? I saw it as a filling-blank question in Kaplan Internal Medicine note and do not know the correct answer. I only know DIP and am not sure about the other one.

Thanks very much in advance!

Dear RX 135 and Adam,

Thanks so much!

That is a cool picture. It really helps a lot for memorizing the joint involvement!

Best,

Cathy

are you sure it is the whole spine or the thoracolumbar spine only..because you have to be extra careful with neck manipulation in RA patients as subluxation can occur very easily

Spine is affected in RA. smiling face

I thought that the ones NOT affected are:
1. DIP
2. Sacro-iliac joint
Please correct me if I am wrong

the spine is affected especially the Cervical Spine
and it lead to atlantoaxial subluxation
which is why we have to be extra careful in patients with RA in the OR and prior to intubation

DIP sure not affected
Sacroiliac ... never heard it is affected in RA
