Has anyone got any prematch offers at Metropolitan Hospital NYC and taken it? What are your thoughts on the program?

they invited me for a second interview. At that time they told me that I was an excellent candidate and they would love to offer me a prematch, but would make a final decision after the GME commitee meets and would let me know. They also told me that because of the patient population and other reasons, they have to maintain a fixed ratio of hispanic and asian residents.
I have never heard from them subsequently and have not actively maintained any contact, having signed a prematch there.

Hey, I also got 2nd iv there.. It was also as you describe it.. They told me they would offer pre-match when GME committee meets. But since it´s an University affiliated program they could offer just half of the positions out of match, but the rest has to be in the Match.. I haven´t heard of them since.. GL

if you have been invited there twice and want to work there, I guess send them an email..say that you have a few offers and want to know your status at metropolitan before you make any decisions..and hope for the best..good luck

I got a call from the Associate PD about 2-3 weeks after my interview to offer me a prematch.... I am from Latin America... If your interview was recently you may get a call in a few days.... I would email them as gingko suggests, though...

thoughts about the program?.... It depends about what you've seen so far, and what are your chances at other programs... I personally believe that it would be complicated to get a strong fellowship after residency...and that's my main criteria... Nevertheless, I believe you would learn a lot by experience...which is very important, and in a great location, you could live in upper east, a few blocks from there (very expensive, though). Probably teaching is not as strong as in other programs, but if it follows ACGME criteria and is accredited that's fair enough to get a good education, and finally a license to practice...
A couple of residents I talked with said they are happy there and that they love living in NYC...
