when comitee is doing ROL they have objective and subjective criteria. any ideas of which are them?

Our committee is a lot more casual. Our main questions are:
  1. 1. How will the applicant fit in our program?
  2. 2. Will they pass the boards?

Sometimes we have snacks. Sometimes we don't.

I imagine its hard to generalise for all programs, but could being a good fit to the program (with decent creds) be more favorable in getting ranked higher than having excellent creds, but less of a good fit?

both are important great scores plus great personality, as bbb said. great scores show that you will pass the boards and great personality means a good fit.

thank you bbb and the others for your responses

BBB I interpretate that the "fit" is the subjective criteria and the "pass the boards" is the objective criteria.

Nadia, what does it means to you to have a "great personality"...everybody tries to be nice during interview, so?

I interpretate the fit as what the program is looking for in this aspects:

1. what they need ? It could be an objective criteria as they might need this year somebody who speaks another language, somebody who is interested in doing X fellowship, etc

2. and how they are oriented? Are they clinical or research oriented? Objective criteria again

3, how is the personality of the body of residents who are already there? That could be objective and meassured by residents and what Nadia said

Anyways...its a lot of analyzing in my post and as BBB said it is most of the times a casual thing with snacks and soda. Thanks again and good luck to everybody in the forum
