In my case, ECFMG has verified my credentials and within one week of my Step 2 score release, I received my certificate. So it does not take long. GL

If by the other way you first completed all your steps and then you sended your diploma to ECFMG than the whole process takes about 2 months. After ECFMG receives the verification of credentials from your medical school it takes about 4 weeks maximum, I think it was 3 weeks for me. Good luck!
