With the name of Allah (God) the merciful, the most benificent .
I am starting this journal to keep track of my studies and stay motivated.
I am a very old grad with a family to take care of. I know, for me, this task of taking MLE will be like moving a mountain but I am determined to do this huge task.
Like most of us here, practicing medicine is the biggest dream of my life. I have lived a life of stay home mom in all these years . Now my kids have started their school and I can devote my mornings to studies.
I plan to finish my 1st read by end of April 2008. I am starting with Biochemistry. I will read Kaplan for all subjects except Pathology for which I will read Goljan RR.
I plan to read 20 pages everyday. By this speed I need 5 months to finish reading everything once. I hope I can speed up as I move forward and will finish it earlier.
I need lots of prayers and all the motivation and encouragement from all of you
So I will come back at night to report if I did my 20 pages .
NOT READING 20 PAGES TODAY IS NOT AN OPTION !!!!!

All the best on your prep kamyabi....I know how tough it is too concentrate on such a huge task with kids around,coz i have a newborn at home..but hey we ladies are perfect examples of multitasking  ...I will be starting to prepare for step1 by 20th of this month,currently prepping for CS,I have to give step2 CS by the end of next week....
Inshallah ,you will achieve your target for each day effortlessly..

I am glad that I finished my today's task. I read 20 pages, listened to the lectures and read cell cycle from HY. Actually I forgot to mention in my previous post that I will read a few topics from HY too.

kamyabi.....I liked what you wrote:..."my castle in the clouds needs foundation", it made me open your journal and read. I think I can relate to this phrase because so far till now, I have been dreaming, and hoping, and wishing to do the exams and to get on with my life but like they say, dreams without actions are just dreams, so the castle (the dream) that I have build in my mind in the clouds also needs foundation, it needs a lot of hard work, it practically needs a makeover or as I feel I need to start from scratch.
So good luck, God bless, and congrats that you accomplished your first goal, your first 20 pages!
I am going to start preparing this Monday, but I am going to start with physio.

My kids will be home as it is weekend. I will spend time with them and will also do my household chores. So I will not fix any target for today. I will try to read a few pages and if not , at least I will listen to yesterday's lectures again .

Alrighty!!! I had my Sunday off and had a lot of fun with my kids. Today I am back to business. Target is to read next 20 pages from Kaplan along with videos and then read the same from FA. Will come back at night to report my progress.

Alhamdulillah, I did 30 pages today . I am very happy . Some of you would be laughing at me for being happy on so little reading but it is an achievement for me .

I took my Sunday off.
Until now I have done 4 chapters of Molecular Biology. I want to start Anatomy along side.
So today I will do 30 pages of Kaplan Anatomy along with lectures and FA. If have time, will browse through HY too.

hi Kamyabi,
I know how hard it is to study when your family is around, i am in same situation , i tried to hide myself from my kids but its of no use.
I know i have to make a plan to stop wasting my time during weekends , otherwise i am going to fall behind & i don't wanna do such things this time.

Alhamdulillah, I finished cell biology from Kaplan which is 25 pages. I read two chapters from HY too and watched the lecture. Not done with FA yet. Will do it before going to bed InshaAllah.

Well, today I plan to read chapter 3 from HY Histopathology. I need to build good concepts about all those cell membrane receptors and stuff , so I guess this chapter of HY will help me.

Hope all is well with you and you are able to read lil bit every day.. LISTEN to Dr lionel's(biochem and molecular bio lecturer) while you are learning biochem otherwise u might find it harder to grasp the concepts in biochem..He is really good

Aashi, thank you for checking on me . My studies are going steady but SLOW . Anyways, I do not worry much about the slow part as it was expected.
Yeah, I am listening to Dr.Raymon's lectures and I agree he is really good . Please keep the good advice coming Aashi

when i started i was intending to finish 30-40 pages a day!!!!!
and today i realize this is not easy a tall
but at least if we r slow we r sure that what is done is done perfect

Thank you maoudoody for stopping by. 30-40 pages is undoable for me with half day study. I am not sure if I am even doing my 20 pages well enough. I will know when I come to my 2nd read and questions but at least I am doing what I can do .

You known it doesn't matter ,how fast you go what matter a lot is punctuality esp. in our case[mom] . so keep going mom . Good luck.
