Can someone explain me why is nitroglycerin part of therapy for acute pulmonary edema?

Diuretics, nitrates, inotropic agents, and analgesics are the mainstay of pul. edema treatment.

Nitrates essentially reduce myocardial oxygen demand by reducing preload and afterload.
