Hi, ECFMG mentions on website that we have to take J-1 statement of need letter form country of most recent permanent residence, irrespective of citizenship. If anyone know please tell me if I m PR in canada but still holds an indian passport can i apply for statement of need letter from india. Also how long i will have to stay in india to show india as my last legal residence and not canada. In canada they issue this letter only in limited no. every yr and only for few specialities and it varies in different province. so its better to take from india. Kindly reply if anyone knows anything about this. Thanks.

it will probably be too late to give the EE in May (results out 7 weeks later) and its required in order for health canada to issue you a statement of need. so you will probably have to get it from india.

Dstar i'm not sure if you can get it from india, from my understanding it has to be the country of your residence. u might want to give step3 to avoid this hassle.

If in Ontario , match is for 2009 then better keep in touch with Toronto Kaplan, let them know to send all free events especially the visa [ US embassy send the staffs to explai, answer ur all Qs ]. It has change in some but in better way . Just as by friends saying in Canada , after mccee ...to get letter from the health of Canada in order to get .. J visa , the Canadian helath has coda & that fill fast & quick . The Toronto kaplan med staff the key person know it well, so u might go there to get free info re kaplan plus canadian plus J visa . The main is if J visa letter from other than Canada , u will have to be out in that place , country u ask for letter for J visa .. for 2 yr, u cannot stay in Canada by that 2 yr time , so , do as where will u like to b by that 2 uyr out of USA . But even ur resince of Canada, u can get ur letter for J visa other than Canada as u like & ur able to get like ur old country .. GL

munchy1 wrote: after getting an H1 do we have to get a stamp from canada. Does any body have an idea about it. Please help..........!! Any body from canada on H1.....please share your your views .... What do u mean stamp ?? fr Canada . If u get H visa, ie from USA [ latest is just stamp H visa at border, no need to even line up at USA embassy for visa appt or interviwe , detail u call US embassy or attend free kaplan with US embassy info by kaplan when it held ] , nothing to do with Canada site for ur H visa , except may be tax & others . Only if J visa, u need letter from .. Canada health site or country of ur choice letter to apply for , to get J visa . But again, it change , so do call USA embassy & kaplan . GL
