hi guys ...
i m a medical student from india
i just applied for CS....cleared step-2 last month....my CS will be in july...
M i late for the visa??or too early??? when should i schedule an interview at the delhi consulate ??june? may?
suppose i want a date in may.. i saw a calendar on vfs-usa.co.in.....it shows the january month with green boxes ..i guess those r the available dates....i tried opening the may month...it dint open..does it mean i'll have to wait till 1 may to get a date in may?? do the slots open for only a month??
plz guide me in temporal sequence as to what to do step-by-step..in he next 2-3 months....to get a visa in may/june whatever...seniors plz help...i need help...
visa is really buggging me affecting my step-1 preps...

ideally u should have both ur scores in hand while u go for ur interview. but even one score mite be ok. thr r ppl who hv been called back for their iv after they hv recieved both the scores.
lakshya, i think the may slots will open up a bit later. when do u think u will get ur step 1 score? if by may ur step 1 score is going to be available u can wait till the may slots open up. u will hv to keep chkng.
Mydream, same applies to u. u can pay the visa fees rt nw so that u can see what dates are available for visa iv. whn is ur step 2 score going to be available?

hi titly,
thanks a lot for ur response. i just got my step 1 result ystrday. planning to take ck in march end..atleast by april first week. so by may it shud be out.
shud i apply for CS now only if i want to take in june??
and how many days before i need to apply for a visa to get an iv date ?? for eg. if my papers become ready by may..can i scedule for the visa iv in may ?? or i hv to work on that from now to get a date during that period??

APPLY FOR CS RIGHT NOW!!!
its difficult to get dates for CS. so u please apply for CS right away if u wish to take it in june.
u can pay the visa fees after which u will b able to view dates available for visa interview. for a may interview i think the dates will be available by march if not earlier. but its advisable if u keep checkng.
start getting ur papers ready.

u r welcome!
which dates r u talking about? u can reshedule ur visa date only once.
if u r talking abt ur CS date, yes u can reshedule it many times provided u r 14 business days prior to ur xam. for CS u have an eligibility period of 1 year so u can plan ur xam anytime during dat yr.
ya i gues all centres r same. i hv my CS in LA on 2nd feb.

i have BIG problems n i need guidance...
i m planning step-1 in may 1st week....CS in july....my internship ends on 28 august 2008....i plan to start applying by 1st sept...i'll have 2 scores atleast by 1 sept...no american LORs,no OBSERVERSHIP on 1st sept 2008.(though i may get observership by late sept or oct)..i'll get my medical diploma in sept...n it will take 2-3(?) months to get verified..i'll get my ECFMG certificate (duuno when) by jan2009 hopefully....
so should i stick to my plan n start applying on 1 sept 2008...n try for 2009 match???
wont the PDs consider the fact that i m a fresh graduate {graduated on 29 august 2008}n i dint have time for USCE....??
will i be able to update my CV if i get an OBSERVERSHIP n american LORs later in oct....will i still get ivs ??
what should i do??

Hi Titly, I have recently taken my step 1 and will be taking my step 2 ck in april and cs in Jun/jul. I also have to apply for cs visa now. My mother is also a doctor and she is going to attend a conference in US in june and she wants to take me with her as a guest. Is it possible for me to take my cs exam on that visa. Should i apply for visa for cs or should i apply for visit visa with my mother who will be applying it for conference?? Please help

As far as i know..CS can be taken under any visa. if u get visa along with ur mother( B1/B2 ? )..that will be fine.

a friend of mine said that the no. of c.s visas is going to decrease in the near future...may b after this years match!!! is it a rumour or did anyone of u get that information too???
this visa is bothering me a lot...i was planning to go for visa in may after my c.k...but if this is true il have to change all my plans...anyone please reply if this is true...thanks in advance...

my step-1 is on 13 may...
this means step-1 result should be out on 4th june if everything goes fine...
my CS is on 2 july.
i'll go for visa iv on 7 or 8 june....would that be too late for the visa?would that affect my chances of getting a visa?
