Hi everyone,
I'm IMG from Malaysia, interested in cardiothoracic and neurosurgery. Of course I've to choose either one. 
But it's said that both cardiothoracic and neuro residencies are tough for IMGs to get in... I just want to know, how tough is tough?
For cardiothoracic; 5 years of general surgery residency +2-3 yrs for cardiothoracic. But that's kinda risky for J1 visa.
For Neurosurgery; 1 yr general surgery + 6 yrs of neuro residency. But then, has IMG ever get into this program?
Plus, what is it with IMGs and preliminary surgery residencies?
