please let me no, im kinda desperate, i was going to stay with my bro there who is going to be there in the same time (april)

Hey guys!
Two questions:
How long does it take to prepare the CS?
Could I register for the exam now, and take it, let's say in June? I am planning on taking Step 1 first, but I hear it's good to apply for CS as soon as possible, cause of the crowded centers... And can I postpone it in case I don't pass my Step 1 till then or just don't feel ready for taking it?
