hi

I heared about the B visa will B maximum for 6 monthes

is this for the initial duration max 6 monthes, or including the extension, no more than 6 monthes?

will that mean is my 6 monthes will finish in October, & I need to schedual interviews in November I can't extend my visa?

well,B visa allows you a max. of 6 months stay per calendar year. this does not mean that you will get 6 months at the time of your arrival- the immigration officer might decide (and they have a lot of power/freedom in their decision making) to give you only 2-3 months. yes, you can apply for extension after that, but there is no 100% guarantee it will be approved.

thank U alot..

is that mean I can't stay more than 6 monthes in 2008 year.... but if I stay for the last 6 monthes in 2007 , I can extend to stay up to 6 monthes in 2008, without need to travel out USA to get the extension

so if i stay for say 6 months during my first visit can i come back and travel to US again in the same calendar year?

what i want to ask is that does this mean that we can stay for 6 months per year or 6 months per visit?

I've been visiting my family quite often in the past 4-5 years and the last time the immigration officer told me that the minute you start spending more time here than in your country they get really suspicious (that was my case - last visit I spent almost 9 months at a time, 6 months initially and extended for 3 more...). Let me tell you, they can be very, very unfriendly and rude! And they can deny you the entry!!!

as for the 6 months- there is no guarantee you will get 6 months at the time of entry, it all depends on the mood of the officer. After the incident mentioned above I got only 4 months(after 1 hour of interrogation and inspection of my luggage), although I've been coming and going regularly, never stayed illegally over the allowed period of time...Extension is possible, but do not count 100% on it, especially if ,like somebody mentioned above, you want to "trick" them -last 6 months of one calendar year plus the next 6 of the following year.
