Hi all
By Gods grace and by my parents blessings and my hubby's help i got 99/237 in step 1.I guess I just touched the magic figure!!!
I am an IMG and I got so much information from this forum and i met so many nice people here who helped me a lot.I owe alot to this forum. This is my little effort to return it back.....I want to thank all those members who helped me.
Exam taken: November
Score Obtained ecember
Materials used-
1) kaplan lecture notes for all subjects except path.
2) Goljan audioes and rapid review for path
3) goljan slides along with lectures.
4) First Aid in last month.
5) high yield gross anatomy and neuroanatomy (only once)
6) UW notes taken by me.
Qbank used:
1)Usmle world for 3 months.
2)kaplan qbank for 1 month.
Websource:

Preparation time: about nine months.I stared in feb and studied good during last six months.I started with kaplan notes and dvds.I found them to be good enough.Then stared with pathology with the doenloded notes of goljan .Then i again did revisio of kaplan notes only and i 2nd read i used goljan rapid review series. i did about 3 readings of kaplan and about same for goljan. During my 4th read i read only the important topics and not word to word.
Sores correlation----
UW--61% (100% completed)
Kaplan q bank--70-80% (60% completed)
NBME 1--510/221/89
NBME 2--520/224/90
NBME 3--560/232/94
KAPLAN SIMULATED---70%
USMLE CD----42/37/42. (80%)
WHAT helped me most---1.goljan 2.kaplan notes 3.UW 4. nbme questions.
About exam----i felt it was quite similar to NBME. Difficulty level was in between UW and NBME.It is really really doable.please dont be afraid of exam . they ask the basics. Know the basics and dont get into every minute details and the rare drugs. They do ask the weird questions.....I did got some weired ones and th god only knows types of question in the exam but dont panic just move on.......I got the very weired Q as my first question in exam.Also 2 weird Q on biosts....I was telling myself in exam tht i have to do my best effort and to keep cool and leave everything on God.
In my exam every subject was eually tested with 8-10 pic/ct/slide in every block.Time management was most important. I got 2-5 mins to check my answers in every blocks.Try to solve qbank questions in timed mode.
Suggestion----Practice a variety of questions.
pay attention to time management. Practice in timed mode.
Dont use a variety of material.The golden rule is to stick to kaplan and Goljan and FA and revise it again and again.

hi vanilla. first of all, very happy new year, and congrates for ur great score.
i m also img and want to complete first step around 15th march.
I have completed 2 readings with kaplan Q bank. after this status, i have given NBME 1 on 31 st dec.to check my status but i am disappoint with score.
I got only 310. i have completed Q bank with avg. of 60 %.
now i am starting my 3rd revision with USMLE world.
I have only 2 mnths now. want your suggestion. am i on right way??

you actually beat the NBME.
tell me something ! what was ur feeling after the exam? what were you expecting ? pass fail ? 80 90 or 99?

@ floresmd----- I used kapaln lecture notes.It goes with the kaplan dvds.I dont know home study prog.I think kaplan lecture notes are good enough.
@ nimeshahir---- I think u'll be fine wheu r done with UW. It gives u proper direction in which Q can be asked. and use it as learning tool and really helps u to clear our concepts . when u r done with UW take NBME again and u'll be fine.

@ inkspot------ i was feeling good afetr exam.....nt feeling like 99 bt was quite sure of clearing the exam .....abt score......i didnt thought .....whenever i thought abt exam i remembered the Q I got wrong......so i thought to nt to think abt it and leave everything on GOD !!!!
