Dear bbb, I would like to ask you a question (as you are so helpful to everyone). Can IMG apply for nursing, physician assistant position in the USA and what are their chances to get a job? (no green card, but with B1 visa, health inshurance) or if they work on this positions without any payment just to gain some experience (and for LOR as well).
Thank you.

Sorry, no - you can't work in the USA without a visa. To work as a nurse, you have to have a nursing license and a visa. As a physician assistant, you need a PA license and a visa.

Thank you bbb and one more question please, what can we (IMG) do if we are in the country and want to have a contact with the hospital? Is there any other chances?

Observership, Research (need J or H visa), externship.

I'm certain that there are other options, however, I can't think of them at the current moment? Who else remembers what I am forgetting?

if someone works as a medical assistant......is it counted as clinical experience.? Is it helpful?

Thanks!

I believe it would, but I have had residents tell me that they tried that, but with the MD from the other country, they were told that they were over qualified.

For my experience(I have applied for this positions), we can't work as a medical/physician assistant, or as a nurse . You have to have a license or at least green card (it's a key!). That's the USA!!!
