I would recommend Step 1 first, it is important to be good at the basic sciences to do well on the clinical questions in step 2...

If you are a med graduate, I believe it is better to go for step2 first. You have the clinical experience to answer the questions. Also, I noticed that step 1 has tons of clinical oriented qs which you may be able to cover with your studying for step2 (not all of them but it helps a lot). GL!

I totally disagree, I think the knowledge for step 1 will help in step 2, but not the other way around. I would recommend giving step 1 first...

Ofcourse do step1 first, on step2 exam, u got direct basic qs from step1 u won't find those on UW, for e.g. i got a nephron photo showing electrolytes movements and asking about a dirutic effect on certain electrolyte and on which part of the nephron, another antiarrhythmic effect on cardiac cycle graph and asking if drug a is ... what is drug b????

Also, preparing for step2 after step1 becomes a piece of cake, and won't take long from u, ur problem in step1 is diagnosing the dse, so if u aced it during ur prep for step1 u'll be moving smoothly in step2....

From my point of view Best Plan is to start with step1 and listen to IM videos with it... This will help u a lot and save u precious time learning how to catch the diagnosis, u can get that from solving qs, but doing IM will ease it for u.

A recent graduate could be benifited by taking step 2 first but if you are even 3 yrs passed from graduation then step 1 definately should be taken first as the basic science is also well in the root of step2 questions e.g pathophysiology and pharmac. and some times work in answering logically!!!

No doubt about it.........Step 1 first then CK/CS.
