hi everybody,
i m a medical student from india..
i m in internship rite now...my internship started on 29 august 2007..so i m in the 5th month now...I have done my intern postings in med/surg/obgyne.....i have 3 months of district level postings n 3 months of PSM towards the end...n some minor clinical postings r going on...
i m planning for match 2009...i cleared step-2 last month with 99%...havent taken step-1 n CS...
i m planning to apply for clerkships/electives....
1. is it the right time? becoz i gotta take step-1 n CS by june/july...so i want the clerkships to be around june/july..
2. many universities want "medical transcript" along with other documents in order to apply....how can i get medical transcript i.e degree, without completing internship coz in india degree is given after completing internship..
3. suppose i get 3 months internship ...will that 3 months be counted in my 12 month intern period...or my intern period will be extended for 3 months...
4. read in forums that electives in UK/canada help too...any ideas?is that doable?
5.is it necessary that i choose those univ only for clerkship that are IMG friendly n would be willing to take me as a resident when i apply later in the year...or it doesnt matter where u do ur elective..u just need to do it....i ask this becoz searching an IMG friendly univ offering electives would be very cumbersome as i would have to match 2-3 lists...do u have any list of img fridnly colls offering electives?
6.some univs charge a tution fees, some dont....y is that? will that matter in the end?
7.some universities want TOEFL to be passed.....!!!???

toefel not must...transcripts not must but u can make ur own gt it signed by dean..apply as soon as possible atleast 6 month prior to desire month..no u have to complete 12 month internship in india for ur completion..but do clerkship worth the time and money...there is nothing as img friendly if that was the case y would they offer clership first place...o yes dont try california tough

hey guys..... i want to apply in the "wayne state university"....but the electives section page doesnt open....when i searched the main site .....in the I M section they said they werent accepting any new applications for "observership" as the slots were full....what do i do now?....

Hi RX,
I've a question?
I'm a medical student from Indiaand I'm applying for electives.
How many electives can we do for a good USCE?
Assuming that, I get accepted for >3 electives in 3 different universities, can I do all the electives?A friend of mine said that only 3 electives are allowed.
