After my longer lunch brake in step 3 (2d day) today I simply forgot to take my analog watch off. Nobody reminded me to when I signed in again. When I came out again for a shorter brake and signed out the blood hound at the desk detected my watch and stated that she has to report this. Thats when I noticed the watch myself, I had completely forgotten about it before and not even looked at it. Now I am loosing my mind - is this an irregular behavior and what will be the consequence? The proctor couldn't tell me, she only said that it happens frequently enough but she had to report that i accidently forgot to put the watch off. I did not receive any document to state anything. What should I do now and what can I expect. I was hoping that today the nightmare would be over and now it really starts...

i agree. relax for now. If u really want to know, may be u shud call the authorities. I don't think what u did was crazy bad. If it was that person would have let u know. Don't worry, my gut feeling says u will be just fine.

I have given my step 3 recently ...In the previous steps...1 and 2 was told no watches allowed...no digital nor analog...this step3 ..was told ...can take analog....but i still avoided it...so dont worry ....if it is really worrying you ...just call up and ask them about any new rule changes regarding analog watches.... i remember ...(not very sure ...was tensed then)before the exams, the proctor at the main desk made a common announcement to the usmle test takers with regards to allowing analog watches now. .

Thank you all, got a bit of my mind back. The proctor didn't give me a paper for a statement but told me that it happens frequently and that she wrote that I accidentally forgot to remove my watch non-intentionally. The testing place did not allow eating in it so we had to go out and so naturally you take your watch with you to scan the time. She actually admitted that she also will instruct the other proctors to remind everyone before re-entering. Kochs - when did you do your step? Hero, do you remember where you got these rules? They seem to be inconsitent. On the 2d day only they told us that we were not even allowed to take off our sweaters... Thanks

they film the whole exam all day every day.. and when such an irregularity is reported. they check the tape to see if it was of any significance.. they are fair and very understanding... for the exam center it is their job... DON'T WORRY

Got my score yesterday (after 3.5 weeks) 204/84 - all I needed is to pass. Never again USMLE step 3. Thanks for your support! Anybody interested in Step2 and 3 books (first aid etc.)?
