Hi friends...I solved UW questions first , while preparing for step 3. My scores were not good and hence started re-reading step 2 Ck notes again. Now I feel that reading CK notes does not help much in solving these questions. I feel these UW questions for Step 3 to be very Wierd. Is this the case in real exam also? Should I have to read Ck notes for other subjects ? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Gingko --- Hope you would have a better idea! Thanx

Thanx a lot robin!! Iwas wondering whether UW notes would help us in real exam? For example, Today I had a question like BRown tuck ---> Lyme disesae and black tick --< RMSF....What was your experience robin?

hey sprint, happy new year. from my experience: CK, UW step 3 and the real test are all interconnected in a way that the easiest and the easy concepts are something you can answer based on CK knowledge, UW for step 3 is very good for office ste-up questions and the common sense ones...but quite a few qs are out of blue. This is expected because the test is designed for people well into their residency(atleast that's what it claims) UW however has a very good positive predictive value: a bad score(50-55%) doesnt mean u would perform bad, but a good score(>60%), almost certainly predicts good. I was very underprepared, but my UW score gave me a lot of confidence. After the test, I thought may be i was overconfident..but the result was very good. bottom line is that the real exam is no-where near UW, but if you do well on UW, rest assured.(and honestly, that is what i've felt for all the steps). If you have to decide between reading CK or integrating UW by repeated revisions, go for revisions of UW. As i said CK is helpful for the easiest qs. Unless you have forgot that, no need to read it again. say, for eg the time duration of psychotic symptoms for various diagnosis. I recalled them well from my ck. If you have forgot that 6 months is the cut-off for schizo, yes, time to read CK again..but if you recall concepts like this well, focus on UW..another such topic would be milestones in a child or vaccination schedules or first step in rx of GERD.
