Hi, I have a question for you guys who know a lot about visas. It says on a lot of homepages that you can get a waiver if you work in a medically underserved area in primary care. My question is: 1. If I do IM and then a fellowship, e.g. nephrology, cardiology etc. can I still get a waiver? I mean invasive cardiology is hardly primary care... 2. What do you think of returning to Sweden for two years after fellowship and work at a univ. clinic here? Would it be easy to find a god job in the US afterwards?

To answer your question, 1. you can still get waiver for Cardiology for VA. A few have got waiver for private practice in Ortho in a really underserved area in WV. So there is always hope. 2. I doubt that it will be difficult for you to get a job, with fellowship under your belt, after a 2 yr hiatus in your home country.
