if chief resident is very impressed with you, how much influence does that have?

depends on the program and PD..
Some programs cherish them a lot and he / she is like a right hand to PD.. where as for other programs he is merely a senior resident who does morning report and moonlights as a hospitalist and manages problems of residents...
I wonder what bbb will say abt chief at her program.

Depends on which chief we talk about.
The chiefs have some say - it is going to be a program dependent answer.
