Hey guys, don't lose your hope. Never give up until u reach ur goal. I think in america people study without considering their age. I guess u guys are around 30 right. If that is the case I think you guys are still young to go into residency.
Please let me know if I am wrong.

Dear smartdoctor,
Thank you for the nice reply grin .
I`m 27...almost 30, right?!?
I hope I`m not too old. Can anyone tell me why is it bad to be an old graduate? I didn`t know it would be a problem :? .
Please, help me understand :| .

Hi Fernanda, I think by old graduates they mean people who are out of college for a very long time and were not doing anything related to medical field.

As long as you get good scores and show some US hospital experience I guess 5yrs should not be that bad.

This is what I am thinking. I think usmle scores talk for you.
Most of all motivation and zeal to get into residency is important.

Anyway when are u taking ur steps.

I`ve finished medical school in 1999 but I`ve been working since than here in my country. Do you think this way it won`t be a problem being an old graduate?

I`ve been a little disappointed since I`ve seen this problem with old graduates. That`s what is keeping me back...

Anyway when are u taking ur steps.

I`m just getting started with my studies and hopping to find out that I`m not behind because of my age and graduation year.

Thank you for your words of wizdom smiling face
Keep in touch and best wishes,
Fernanda
