mj, thank you for dropping by, inspiring post. when i started almost a year ago, I didnt remember a thing, I can imagine how hard it is to study with kids, even though I dont have yet, but whenever my niece would come by, when she was 2, none of us at home could do anything. Its takes lots of determination, I think you have it! You will come out great!

wow mary THERE IS NO PERFECT TIME AND SITUATION TO STUDY
u are absoultely right there are relatives coming to visit,home sickness ,illness or sometimes just plain old laziness ,and sometimes too much pressure to study from inlaws or parents as in my case it took me 3 years to make up my mind to study and to tell my parents n in laws to give me some time otherwise i may have a nervous breakdown
i have been reading ur abt ur prep from time to time but couldnt write anything u r doing great a good first read will save u lots of time in the next reads and im also trying to study rather making it my habit to study so far done with 5 ch of biochem but im happy coz my daughter is also getting used to with my studying but her teething problem..............it just took me 3 hrs to put her to sleep and she just learned to scribble and wants to write on only those books which im studying so its like a fight for survival of the fittest amongst us for highlighting on the books,
ok goodluck for ur studies and keep on catching up on ur sleep from time to time

Hi!! so what have i done since i last logged in. Studied. so thats good do waste a little time here and there but actually happy with myself. Pat on the back being a little more consistent.
Pathfinished hepato billiary and started renal.
will finish renal tomorrow.
Anat:finished6,7,8,9,10.so done with Histo and cytology from kaplan

Hey i think the correlations you've posted are very old ones and incorrect. I'll post you the correct ones soon if you want.
Also its not possible to describe a score in terms of standard deviations from the mean (the standard deviation and mean provided with ur USMLE score report)because the usmle scores are not NORMALLY distributed.
What i've learned though is that the nbme guys have already worked out this skewed distribution of scores and if you use the nbme correlation for your score you can describe it in terms of standard deviation from the mean and by calculating the z score thereof in terms of a certain percentile.
I hope i dint confuse you!
I'll give u an example...say we have two scores of 240 and 260. These correspond to NBME scores of 600 and 740 respectively. Because the nbme scores have a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100 (and importantly they have been corrected for the skewed distribution of scores i.e they have been normalized) you can calculate the z score for each. Which would be 1 for 240 (600-500/100) and 2.4 for 260 (740-500/100). Using the z score table this corresponds to 84.1 and 99.2 PERCENTILE respectively.
Mind u ur 2 digit score is not a percentile. It is simply ur score in terms of 2 digits. Infact a two digit score of 99 these days corresponds to a 3 digit score of 236 to start with, which actually is only 78.1 percentile!
PS: If u havent learnt it yet z score is a description of a number in terms of standard deviation from the mean for normal distributions. That if the mean is 100 and SD is 20, then the z-score for 140 is 2 (140-100/20).

and anyways guys..... its kinda time-waste to worry abt the 2 digit 3 digit scores issue and the percentiles means deviations etc. Lets leave that headache to USMLE guys.
All we can do at our best is,

This is just for the interested and the willing minds. My 2 cents of info on the 2 digit, 3 digit and the percentile debate. Nothin more to it.

Hi!! Guys, thanx for dropping by, honestly it means a lot to me that some one is seeing my progress however small it may be and cheering me on and wishing me well. thanx, Guyton, one_more_time, SOS, Kal, and Genbot for dropping by with words of encouragement.
well that score thingy i have absolutely no clue about though i copied it here have'nt even looked at it it was basically for future reference thats after and i mean waaayyy after, still got a long way to go in my prep.now that i know its wrong not even going to bother looking at it,
anyway so what did i do today , had an awful beginning to the day. have'nt been sleeping too well last couple of nights thanx to my son who of late has decided its ok to wake up in the middle of the night and take a trip around the bed room. anyway ended waking up at 8:20 instead of 6:45 am. and had to rush and pack my daughter off to school by 8:30. it was a mad rush. and this was done in record time. never happened before!!!did' nt want to compromise on my meager study time.
today i did immuno chp6. took quite a while.
did histo from FA. 2003. just because i needed somthing exclusive ly histo.
Almost done with renal but not yet. Tomorrow will definately be done with renalUW atleast 10 q's before i go to bed to get my much needed sleep!!!!!

and am gonna take a break and catch up on some much needed zzzzzzzz!! so no mre studying till monday!!!

Ok Today morning was really hectic. joined my daughter in some more classe to move her from in front of the TV. before she used to go only for dance 1 hr. now i've joined her for piano lessons, and for Karate lessons , she loved her first karate lesson and hated her first piano lesson!!!! so what does that say about her. 
then came back and it was back to the books,
finished SYS path female repro. feel good feeling!!
today i'm gonna catch up on some video lectures watching ,no more stressing my brain, so no mor e serious studying.tonight. gonna catch up on sleep.
tomorrow is for my kids and maybe in the night i might do some reading.

Hi!! so last week was kind of slow,not bad but slow , probabaly started with the relaxing weekend i had last week. so this week i really have to buck up and i will.
last week finished reading immunology 1st reading!! yiiipppeee
also did FA immono.
Finished endo crine path. started musculoskeletal path.
Agenda fro this week. finish sys path and start gen path,
make ehad way into gross anat..lets see how it goes.
Tomorrow is a new day and week and i intend to make the best use of it. ithink i've taken enough and more rest.

Hi!! Have'nt been logging in b'coz have'nt done anything substantial to login. i've been dappling in this and that studying but still here some and there some. anyway to day officially finished with SYS path, goljan. next starting on GEn path..
Anat is truding along and i 've fiished with the Thorax and almost done with ABD.
