How many of you have contacted programs already to know about the status of your applications? Should we do it now?

I tried contacting programs today. Some PCs are on holidays till 2nd January, some didn't answer, three PCs told me they weren't inviting applicants any longer and two told me I'm on hold.
I think you should try after Christmas. Good luck and happy holidays to you too!

keep trying after christmas..i had(cancelled..so the past tense) an interview on 12/28..so atleast some might answer..

I already cotacted all the programs I had applied to. I called them before christmas.
Majority had standard answer, telling me that they already have contacted people with the interview call.
Some said they did not even consider my application because I graduated more then 5 years ago. When I pointed out that I have PhD that was completed in USA in 2005, they told me that sorry, but they cant do anything NOW. whatever that means.
Few program told me that they had my application on hold, but as I have not been certefied before Dec 31st, I will not be considered.
A single program decided to give me interview because they were impressed with my credentials and interest.
I think you should start calling on jan 2nd

I called a program last week. They looked at my file and were unsure as to why I hadnt been given a response yet but that they were let me know soon. The next day I got an iv from there - a university program.
Its been almost 4 months now. You deserve to at least get an answer. I plan to call another program on january 2nd as recommended.
