Dear prep4usmle members,

At this time of the year I want to thank you for a great year 2007 we had at prep4usmle.com.

There are few improvements on our site that I want to bring to your attention:

- The forum is now actually our home page. This will make login and navigation easier.

- Forum software upgrade, not without headaches. Also moved on a new server, faster, of course.

- New features: thread tags & tags library to create a hot map of topics matching certain keywords.

- New forum for Special Offers. I hope some companies will notice it soon.

- Updated the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy.

Your comments and suggestions are important.

Happy holidays!

Since the update, we lost the "thread rating option".

Can that be fixed?

Note: Nice photo. Hopefully you'll always be a happy family.

Please I have this thread:

http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/58791/

After the forum update 99% of the links in it "broke".

The problem with most of the links is that I got them through the "search" option, so they have uncommon URLs.

Can this be fixed somehow? The thread is useless if the links remain like this.

Thanks for your time.

Yeah as us the non leaders members have lost their voice to almost everything,

Please do not use use for links the address with comments.php. Rather use the format with as you posted bellow with forum/thread/xxxx where xxxx is the topic number.

You can edit your post and replace the link addresses. However, just noticed now that highlight function is not working like before. Also there may be a problem if you want to link a specific post from a thread with hundred of posts.

My suggestion is to use the new tag feature if you want to provide a collection of threads with a specific subjects. Hopefully, in the future we will have a nice collection in a tag library listed on home page.

I am planning to have saved topics collection on members public profile in the contribution section where you can see it next to number of threads and posts.

The related threads and resources will be back soon, as well as the rating feature.

Thanks for your input!

Hi Idlehands,

Yes O Great Admin!!

Before the update every thread had an option to rate it at the bottom of the thread. I know the Leaders have a different way of rating the threads but their votes arent clear on us. Like i cant see what the Senior/leader members think of a particular thread. Neither i can voice my own opinion without leaving a comment.

Sometimes i feel like not saying anything positive or negative as it might hurt someone's feeling but still like to say it through some medium. I will keep the suggestions coming and hope that this post might help others to open up and post their own ideas.

one more thing can you plz do something abt the instant msg format or if there is a chat option here on the forum like IRC or something then plz make it visible on the main page. So that if one has to chat or discuss things then we can do it there easily.

That pretty much wraps my rant for the day.

Thank you.

Thanks, the voting code is back now.

Regarding the chat feature, we had a link on home page and monitored the activity for few years which was very low, so at one time I decided to take it out. I remember few weeks ago somebody else was also asking about chat so if there is popular demand (you can post a poll) I can bring it back.

There are actually 2 chat programs available:

http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/84/
and
http://www.prep4usmle.com/chat.php

Regarding instant messages, you can access it now while reading a topic. If a topic poster is online, you can click on the green light next to the member name.

Regards!
