how will you rank these programs? a program you really like, but they are very competitive and they might not rank you a program you like, but they might rank you low a program you do not like, but they will rank you high Thanks

is it a really smart ranking choice? I might not be matched, if I do as you recommended. if the fist program does not rank me, I will lose one chance. if the second program has enough people ranking it the first choice, I will not get in either. and i have no third choice.

if you don't like the program will you be happy there??? years of spending half or more of your days in the program... would you want to be match there... could you really learn from a program that doesn't work for you... not telling you what to do - just giving my suggestion about what i would do... i started this match process just hoping to be match somewhere... but along the way, while visiting programs, i realized it really important to "fit" - there were programs that i knew i could work well in, and others i knew just were not for me... however this is really dependent on your number of IVs, quality of programs interviewed, and your overall expectations from a program... good luck!

^^^^ Agree with CocaCola. You have to make sure that the program agress with your heart. Dont try to fool yourself........it'll make it that much harder during your 3+ years in residency.

if you dont match in your first choice then the match will go for your second choice as if it was your first choice. if you are ranked higher on that list than other people then you will be matched onto that list as if it was your first choice pushing off a person below you.

a program you really like: 1 a program you like: 2 a program you do not like: 3 (or not if you are completely sure you would prefer not to work there) bottom-line, rank according to YOUR preference.

Well said dear prueba!! If you really don't like it why rank it? Better to wait for another year than to be un happy for 3!

I would think different here. If you 've never worked in a prog, how do you know you would not fit in there. This year is really tough for IMGs. If you are having like +20 IV, you might not rank some. But not a lot IMG are lucky enough to have a lot of IV. Rank all that you have, thats my advice.

I would suggest ranking the program that you lliked and you think they will rank you first,,,, also why dont you work on the program no 2 on ur list and try to make yourself more desirable for them.... The deal of the match is that your choice will be preferred but u need to be sure that the program ranks you in top few..... Also, there is very high likelihood of remaining unmatched.. same was the case last year.. people went unmatched with 12+ interviews.. depends on what ur priorities are; getting matched or trying again next year... most of the programs are ACGME accredited.. they cant be taht bad.. guage ur chances and rank the ones you know will call you.. rest is God's will. I am a firm believer in fate.. above is just my opinion.. hope you are not offended
