Dear Friends: I am am img who will be in his final year soon, and ultimately wishes to go to America. However, I wish to do a medical preferably clinical elective in U.S, what should one do to do that? What is shadowing and how is it done! This was once mentioned by some friend's friend but I couldn't grab it's concept so if you can explain it as well? What are the best places to do elective, being not to expensive and are good as well?

shadowing is just following someone around without any hand-on experience! Apply for electives while in med school... you have hands on experience and many doors are open to get US Clinical Experience this way... after you graduate the chances of getting USCE (esp hands on) is markedly less to none... so getting it while in med school is your best bet... write or email all the med schools and teaching hospitals in your prefered US region... you will definately get some hits... good luck!
