Guys, why don't we inject some humour into this scary match process, am just tired of worrying my head off, so I need something to keep me smiling, and what else than the wonderful rejection letters that have become so common in my inbox. Actually, you might not beleive this, but rejection letters put a smile on my face these days, what do you call that? Inappropriate affect For me so far, this excellent piece of prose from the Jacobi center in new york is the ultimate rejection letter, December 20, 2007 Dear Applicant: The Review Committee has carefully considered your application and has concluded with regret that it cannot offer you an interview for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. We expect more than 5,000 candidates to compete for an interview, which means the committee must make difficult choices. The complex decisions that this situation requires make the committee's task a difficult one. No matter which interview criteria are relied upon, the vast majority of applicants, most of whom are qualified must be denied interview. We do hope you understand that this unfavorable decision is in no way a reflection of your abilities, motivation, or capacity to make a significant contribution either to our residency program or to the medical profession. We are appreciative of and flattered by the interest an applicant such as yourself has shown in completing your training at our hospital, and behalf of Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Jacobi Medical Center I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. Sincerely, Steven C. Martin, MD Residency Program Director Vice Chairman, Department of Medicine my advice to all, pray hard, stop worrying, you've done your best, share your rejection letters and lets keep our spirits UP
