Yes. Try next year. Try and be productive in between. Good luck!

It's not too late assuming you get a CS date by the end of the month!!, If you give your exam by December 31, you will have your result by Feb 27th, so ECFMG will be able to verify you are eligible for the match. I know it seems unlikely, but dates always open up a few days before, so if you get a date this month, you might want to give it a shot. You step scores are excellent, so i'm sure you got IV's anyways, and being impressive in the IV's is the most important thing. It's interesting you got the result this late, most people got their's on Dec 5th, which would have gave you almost a month...

Getting a prematch will be your only opportunity to get a residency spot next year if you don't get a CS date before December 31.

i am too inexperienced to comment on this , but from what my seniors told me, you shd try and get some usce and do a research assistantship in between or if u r outside us , try and do observerships and try doing a research project( it is good if u get a paper published)

Getting a prematch will be your only opportunity to get a residency spot next year. Is this true? How do you know this. I also failed CS (in CIS). I got the result 2 days ago, and after did some interviews. Right now I feel sad and depressed, but I'm thinking of giving myself one second-last chance next year. Do anybody knows anyone getting match (not prematch) in IM with CS attempts?

To be eligible for match, you have to have all your passing results in by Feb. 27th, therefore you have to give your CS by December 31st. So, if you can get a date by the end of the month, give it...

It is possible to get a prematch without a CS result as mentioned above, but I highly doubt any hospital will offer a prematch until they know you passed all 3 steps. That is my opinion, I guess anything is possible though...

Oh I'm sorry, actually I'm talking about match 2009. I'm over with match 08. CIS is big issue for me, I'm still wondering what I did wrong (I even took a course for CS, but my performance must've been really bad that the SPs failed me). So I don't want to rush. Anyway thx for the reply..
