in the first q the patient has delusions of persecution which go with psychotic illness.

brief psychosis occurs following psychlogical stress. The symptoms of social withdrowal in this patient are the negative symptoms of psychosis.

adjustment disorders are associated with depression ore anxiety ( not psychosis).

Question 1. A. Adjustment with depressive symptoms.
There is a clear stressor, break-up with girlfriend. Then he becomes depressed possibly feeling useless and thinking the family might try to kill him (for being so useless). This is not outside of 'normal' human perception and experience, which makes me think this is not brief psychotic episode.
Could this be brief psychosis? I suppose so, but there is not enough to call it 'psychosis'. The delusion is not bizarre enough.

Question 2. E. echo
Question 3. MRI back

  #9

Isn't this A, B and C respectively?

  #10

first question answer is C
because the patient is having delusion of persecution which found in psychosis
if it is found with depression we will call it depression with psychotic features
and the adjustment disorder does not have psychotic features (as far as i know ... tell me if i am wrong )
brief psychotic disorder is the first line of psychotic disorders in which the symptoms did not complete a month as in this case (1 day to 30 days )
if he completed a month with these symptoms without reemission then he entered schezophreneform disorder .
schezoaffective disorder .. the patient with schizophrenia and depression (so symptoms must be for 6 month to diagnose the schizophrenia )
so , i will go with C. brief psychotic disorder

  #11

Yes.
C. Brief psychotic disorder
B. Echo
C. MRI
