28 yr woman complains of breast discomfort ,hot flashes, intermenstrual spotting.dX WITH ovulatory defect&now under ovul. induction.what drug is pat. is taking?

clomiphene citrate is always the 1st choice as it stimulate the pituitary to secrete your own endogenous gonadotropins to stimulate the ovary....
but with HMG the patient is taking exogenous gonadotropins...so it's the 2nd choice when clomiphene doesn't work

does HMG CAUSE SAME SIDE EFFECT AS CLOMIPHENE CITRATE. JUST BECAUE IT IS FIRST PREFERRED U HAVE TO PICK THAT OPTION

Advantages of clomiphene over HMG :
[1] lower Twin pregnancy incidence (10%) .......compared to (20%) with HMG
[2] lower incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
[ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome ] ------> huge ovary - Ascitis - Hypovolemia - Tachycardia - Electrolyte imbalance .

my doubt is hmg also causes breast discomfort,hot flashes,int menstrual spotting just because clomiphene is 1st pref for ovulation ind. u got to choose that choice in that question..
