Kaplan Qbank USMLE

First let me introduce my self. 32 yo male from Brazil IMG graduated in 1999. I am an Orthopaedist Surgeon. Never write here before maybe because of little time or just because I was lazy...or selfish. But I just came back from my step 2 ck exam and I want to share some thougths with you all. I did my step 1 prep in 3 and half monts and scored 97 (232) exam date october 9th. My step 2 prep was 2 months and one week.
1 - Prepare yourself and you must pass. Never think in another possibility: YOU WILL PASS. There is no secret! Study, but first plan how and when you will study.
2 - For step 2 ck all I did was KAPLAN, UW (69% mixed questions) and FA. I did not watch PEDS, GYN, OBS, NEPHRO, SURG... I watched CARDIO, INFECT, HEMO, PNEUM AND, NEURO, PSYCH AND ENDOC. I read KAPLAN once and FA twice.
3 - DO UW! The exam will seem very predictable! Some questions are very similar. Example? Contact dermatitis with a bracelet, what metal....nickel! It is in the UW dermato section and it was in my exam. Do it, its a must.
4 - PLEASE: study PSYCHIATRY!! I had 3-5 questions each block. You should study because the questions are easy, very easy if you had studied. Don't miss a point in PSYCH!!!
5 - OBST: 90% of the questions had to do with bleeding. First trimester, third trimester and mainly bleeding after labor! There was a lot of post partum bleeding and complications (endometritis, DIC). Some questions about labor it self but no fetal studies.
6 - GYN: Vulvar and Cervix lesions a lot. One liquen sclerosous picture. All cervicitis were there. Amenorrhea too, all causes (around 10 questions of amenorrhea) primary and secondary. Cancers were the other one that I had a lot.
7 - INTERNAL MED: Of course most of the test. Equally distributed but I would say that Pneumo, Cardio, Endo and GI were more present than others. EKG: I had 3 very easy, very easy: IAM, VF and WPW. Two media audio for heart murmur: PDA and AS (I could answer then without even needed to listen to the murmur! But the listening was very easy, no doubt)
PEDS - Not a lot of questions...2 on developmental milestones. Neonatal jaundice, brocnchiolitis and asthma. Some ortho (SCFE, Septic arthritis, supracondylar fracture).
ETHICS and EPI: very few. Maybe one per block. Very easy.
EMERGENCY MEDICINE: A lot of questions! Blunt trauma to abdominal (pancreas 3 questions! kidney 1), blunt chest trauma, flail chest with contusion, Epidural and subdural hematoma, liver abcess, ....
I am sorry....I am very tired!!! I will be happy to answer any qs later!!! JUST REMEMBER TO STUDY PSYCHIATRY!!

Hi, congratulation!
Wish you good luck with your score.
I would like to know your opinion on KaplanQbank.
I have read all Kaplan notes once and done twice with IM. Have gone though downloaded old kaplanQbank. Got around 80% correct. I couldn't decide how i should proceed.
Will it be fine if i start UW (2months) along with further revisions?
Or should I do kaplanQbank also??
For step 1, i didn't do new kaplanQbank. Got a 99.
Your suggestion pls
thanks

Dear friends

Sorry for late reply.

Kaplan QBank should do it. I used for STEP 1 not for 2CK. I honestly think that UW is a better source because the software is the same and the questions are very good.

Kaplan PSYC is enough. It would help with the video too. FA is a good review also.

Epidemiology was more present than Stats in my exam. As I said: very few stats questions. Guys do us a favor: master PSYCH!! The questions in the real exam are very easy if you had studied apropriately.

Thank you all for your support

hey USMLEBHBRAZIL!

First of all, congrats and happy for you that's it all over now..

I read your post before my exam (just came back from Prometrics, NY) and have to thank you for posting all that!!!! It was very helpful, especially for the PSYCH!!

I dont have a good feeling about my test though, and if the worse happens, i know how to blame: ME, MYSELF and I! smiling face I really really really didnt study enough, have a full time job, but just HAD TO take it, since I've been postponing it like 4 times till now and all cause of my stupid job!!

Anyway... Going to get some sleep now! See you later here, Ciao!
