hi puchpal sorry for not answering before. I liked them a lot, residents are very happy. Good teaching, psychotherapy stong. No research. Read about suicide rates in detroit (they went close to zero according to one of the faculty). People very nice and friendly, no difficult questions. U will be fine.

Ive good things about the place as far as IM is concerned. Do know of a resident leaving for another program though, in psychiatry.

Quite often and more and more intensely I hear about the risk of going into match for IMGs rather than accepting a prematch... Hmmm really a tough decision!! Recently I talked to an east indian guy who had done 3 years of psych back in UK and is interviewing now for US slots. He told me that it is still quite easy to be a Psych in UK and there is no increase in UK Psych IMGs applying for US slots. So, I wonder, if it is not the UK factor making the psych match more competitive than what is it??? Any idea?

I met a Nigerian who has been doing his specialist training in Scotland but was unable to continue due to changes in the UK system during one of my interviews... poor chap... he was really badly affected by the change in system...

Hmm.. if I was a UK psych trainee applying for US then I'd have told the same story.. I dont know how difficult it is to get a position in psych in UK but it definitely is getting sharper in US whether it has anything to do with UK changes or not.
