I've accepted pre-match offer, but I haven't signed any papers yet. I'm not sure about my decision, so I'd like to go to 1 more interview. Can I tell them I change my mind if I like the other program better? I'll appreciate any input. Thank you.

You can because you haven't signed any papers, but it definately isn't a professional thing to do...once you agree to a pre-match, you should follow through with the agreement...

It would be unprofessional.. just think if program does that to you.. after you withdraw from match, program says that we have found someone better...

Yes, I know it would be unprofessional, so I decided to accept it anyway. But I think it's very unprofessional from the program side to give me only a few hours to think about it. Anyway, thank you for your opinions.

Moe214, a few hours, that's why I wasn't sure. They didn't give me much time to think, and this is my 4th prematch offer.

Not a good idea if u accept then back out. Medicine is a small world. But if it's only a few hrs to think, I would be very careful as I m easily substitutable(they probably ll move in and call next applicant) and they r so eager to fill all the spots.

You are right Mph, but among my 4 pre-match offers this program is my #1 choice. However, it's not #1 considering the other program on my list. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to loose a year, so I decided didn't take a risk. And I agree with you, Mph. Pre-match should be banned. I don't like this situation at all.

Osmosis, in your first post you did not mention that you got only few hours to think over the offer.... it is very unprofessional on programs part... taking advantage of desperation of IMG's.

congrats osmosis i agree that prematchs should be prohibited for everybody so we could choose them in equal positions. However I think that if u didn't sign yet, it means nothing. If I were u, I would go to more programs until they call u and make u sign it. I would talk with PD of my first choice and ask for a earlier IV and prematch if they offer it. U already got 4 offers and u are rejecting/holding bcause of them. It demonstrate ur interest in that program and PD should know about it. GL and congratulations again

I guess it depends on the program. Some PD's are very comprehensive. I was offered a prematch and I told the PD that I am very interested in his program but it was difficult for me to decide right away and he said: "Oh dear take all the time you want and whenever you make a decision just give me a call and if you decide this is the program for you we'll arrange it". He was super nice! I wish all PD's are like him! I guess not everyone behaves like that...

cuadrado_g, I've got the papers today, so I have to sign them and send them back. Unfortunately, I don't have time to attend the other interviews.
