You should tell your programs up front. Will you be able to retake it, become ECFMG certified and be in the match? If the answer is no, you should bow out and let someone interview. Sorry, it's a harsh answer, but again, I have my program coordinator hat on this morning.

I think you shud already be certified. You should be honest over deciding to lie. You werent prepared. anxious lack of time what ever was the real reason. Unwell does not sound honest enough unless u were really unwell. Prepare well for your IV's. You might be asked about failing it. You will have to face having failed some time. You cannot avoid it. better now with 4 Ivs than with no IVs. Make a realistic plan as to when you can re-take it. If that doesnt fit with your plan for going for H1's and you want no less then like BBB says, pull out. come back next year. Final decision is yours. Good luck.

i am ecfmg cert and dont need visa... gave s3 to compensate on attempts in s1 and s2... have 4 upcoming ivs... will i be asked? and if asked, how shoud i reply or what should i say? or how should i explain? should i say: although i felt confident in my knowledge, and i did well in ccs, but overall i wasnt that well-prepared, felt anxious, and was a little short of time during the exam; i will continue to work hard, thoroughly, and efficiently in improving my prep and correcting my weaknesses....

Well if you need step 3 for visa issues I agree with bbb you should let someone else interview in your place

sorry to hear that..if u have attempts on all steps..say that u dont feel very comfortable with the mcq type of tests in general, but that doent reflect ur clinical knowledge since u did good on the ccs...be forthcoming and accept it that it is a deficiency that u just cant perform at ur best in mcq type tests, but since u have recognized this deficiency, ur working hard to overcome it

on that note, it is very unlikely that someone will really ask u about attempts..people dont want to rub salt on ur wounds..if someone does ask, the reason might be he/she really wants to know what problems u are having...it wouldnt be a "justify ur failures"kinda confrontational q..so dont get nervous thinking"this is it..he bought up my failures and im doomed"..be cool and answer candidly
