Robbins and Cotran Basic pathology.

The other one: R & C Basis of pathology is tooooo big. ( i have both, but im giving up on the big one cuz its toooo time consuming, Genetics + Molecular bio. + bla bla )

If you are going to buy it through amazon let me know ( i can make money out of it grin )

consider getting Robbins Review of Pathology, by Kumar and Klatt. it's a qn book with >1100 qns, and invaluable resource for step 1.

i highly recommend it.

how are you, jack?

oh yea there are two Robbins

One of them is called "Robbins Basic Pathology" which contain 900 pages
the other one is "Robbins and Cotran Basis for Pathology" or something in that line, almost double as big, 1500 pages.

I briefly looked at the serology part, both seem to contain the exact same material and figures. Dunno what the difference is, prolly reside on the organ system part.

Does anyone have experience with these two variants?

General Pathology is more detailed in the Basis of Pathology and while its more into the mol bio aspect in the organ system side. The only difference between the 2 books is that Basis is more detailed and explains better while Basic gives you the summary and moves on. This was my experience with 6th edition. Dont know about the 7th buy i guess it will be more updated than usual.

I already pointed that out in my previous post. I say go for the smaller one. "Basic Pathology".

The other one is just tooo big. With all the other books and subjects its going to be really really hard to read the whole thing ( ask me, i tried to! ). I'm going to stop reading the big one and start the small one.

Just so you know, the paper, material, cover, etc. Of the smaller one is not that good. Its shiney and cannot hold on for long.

The texture of the big Robbins is much better mad
