Hi PDM I am not any of them but hope my review helps to you: The most common points that you have with the PD, the better for you becuase he will feel identified with you. I would recommend to find something in your PS or in your LoR that points you towards his interests and then say something about it and what you read from his publications rather than just reading becuase anyone can do the same and they know that. You don't need to know every detail about what is he doing, it would be unadvisable becuase it may look like you are desperate to impress him. That is my personal opinion. Hope someone else writes for see their thoughts GL in your interview

you should know as much as possible about his interests.. but you shouldnt go regurgitating all the info u know during the iv.. knowing will equip you with armament during iv so that the conversation will be smooth and if u r interested in certain topics that he has written up, u should mention it should the opportunity aries... HI PDM, I will tell you what exactly i did and what happened in the interview. I read PD's researches and publications just a little bit to understand what was the topic and what was the conclusion. (Just a few lines) I did not mention it during interview and waited if they ever bring it up. They did not. Instead interview mainly revolved around what i stated in my PS any cases i mentioned etc. Know everything about the cases you mention. If you have done any researches, know everything about that too. Psychiatry interviews are usually about our personalities, strengths weaknesses what makes you nervous what makes you happy what annoys you, stressful situations you have faced, any failures/disappointments in life, in short they will ask everything possible about you so be ready to talk about yourself in detail. Only Medical questions will be if you bring up anything and not vice versa although SUNY downstate psych are the exception. They ask psych questions like cases for example. Goodluck.
