Have heard that this program is very average. Is this true? P or anyone? Any info will be helpful.
Do u guys know what kind of questions are asked during the interview?

Hi mrbean

I was there a few weeks ago. They were pretty easy questions. They ask you to write an essay about a case where you were involved and to describe #2 bio-psyco-social issues impled in it (total of 6 characteristics).

Hope it helps. GL

u will iv with the PD and the associate PD who are all really nice people...

the attendings are mostly very friendly. they ask the common questions.. why psychiatry...why do u think u are suited to psychiatry...

i dunno about them being an average program, but the residents seem tired and the most unfriendly of all the places i have been.. or more like tired and burnt out and only the resident who was appointed to bring us around actually bothered to talk to us... the facilities are so so.. and the emergency psychiatry dept smells a little.. i would prefer a slightly cleaner environment.. overall, since it is a bust city hospital.. with limited budget and lots pf patients, it is not surprising.. but it is in a really nice part of queens and only 20 min by subway to midtown manhatten... workload definitely very very heavy.. you can check with the residents on your iv there...

hope this helps!

Hi mr bean

I agree with chrystal. the residents look tired. there is a heavy work load . I am not familiar with queens area but it was busy for me. I am surprised to hear from crysthal that it was a "nice queens area"...I am wondering how are the ugly ones. CLose to the subway and u may have subway for luch as well.

the big points of the program is that its a multicultural area, you will have lot of practice and as they say you will feel like you can work in any part of the world after doing ur residency there. The affiliation with M SInai is another good point, as your diploma will say M Siani on it. 2 residents usually stays there as faculty after finished the residency so it couldnt be that bad.

hope it helped
