HI guys,I am going to take my step 1 in 2 weeks. However I was wondering how accurate is NBME score if you take the exact same form twice within a one month interval.

11/7/07 NBME 2 -390/190
11/28/07 NBME 1- 380/186
12/12/07 NMBE 2 -500/219

I have not reviewed any of the answers for NBME 1 & 2. I was so happy with my score yesterday, but I am wondering since I took same form 1 month ago, how close to the actual score is this new score. Is it tainted since I have seen these questions before???

I cannot take NBME 3 & 4 because I reviewed 80% of the answers before 4 months back.

The way I prepared differently within that one month was by totally depending on God, doing more UW questions (at least 1400), reviewing FA daily, reading Kaplan Physiology thoroughly, and reading the first 30 pgs of Golgian HY.

Prior to this I have never touched Kaplan Physio, and Golgian HY, but I did do Golgian RR.
Pls i need a sincere advice regarding this situation

obviously repeating the test again will boost your scores, since most of us have quite powerful photographic memories.

but, i've heard/read people who've taken the test say that a couple of qns were very similar/repeated from nbme. same applies for the 3 blocks from the cd you receive.

now i don't have first-hand experience of this - yet, but if it's true, do you want to take the chance?

also don't forget, no matter how accurately the nbme predicts your final score, it can in no way predict your final performance on test day. so, this close to the test, forget the numbers, and try not to leave any stone unturned.

all the best!

hye sam,

u r doing great effort, its true when u revise the some question banks or stuff ,it improves

,dont u think its goodraised eyebrow, its true u knaow a question and ultimately,u remeber its answer and raise the score,so it means u absorbing the material and concept and solve, similar kinda questions, and even same questions as i got 2 or 3 in steps exam too,so wat u think u doing bad or goodraised eyebrowsticking out tongue,i have seen posts of few folks here which even after revision get difficulty to improve score,so u should be happy,BUT the point it dont tkae that score as ur ultimate destination, as when i was doing first time UW my score was around 58%,imarked question which i found good to review and which i idid wrong and tough questions which i did right just by some guesing or clue ,so 2nd read i added those points and did those questions again and it raised my score to 73%on average and 88%in few,i didnt get myself pumped, lol i mean i didnt take that score as corelating to usmle step ,rather i just felt satisfied that oh i learnt something atleast

so if u improved ur score,u learnt something.so keep on revising ,dont take score as ur final evaluation, dont grab nw material this time, revise ur notes of wrong questions or concepts,ur first aid and goljan or kaplan, but key thing, keep on doing questions, coz it wud let u know the way u can get same line in first aid in three different ways,u got it?

like purine, pyrimidine cycle in FIrst Aid ,just 4 or 5 lines ,but after reading questions ,u wud have idea how to extract knowledge out of it, like 5 or 6 question in same 6 lines

HGPRT DEFICIENCY,:leech nehan syndrom(excuse my spellings),what would be defiecient IMP for recycling and keep on accumulating uric acid,

where ALLOPURINOL acting, only purines make uric acid, pyrimidine doent make uric acid and so on,here same pathways u will find role of mercaptopurine,in pyrimidine pathway, role of methoteraxate ,hydroxy urea, tetrahydro folic acid, methionine, homocystine, vit B 12, and so on,u will corelate and same thing kep on comin in uric acid cycle,in amino acid role ,same methiotrraxate same things repeating, but diferent way,so correlate, revise, memorize, and just do itgrin,so nothong lacking in knowledge, neither first aid or any other source, just supplement it and try to revise more and grab the question in between the lines

Thanks drruman ,for ur explanation
yes it true that repeat question does improve score in nbme but i thought that it should be good since i never look to the answers in nbme form 2 whatsoever ,so my brian would have processed in correct way to deduce the answers which i did wrong in first time taking nbme form 2
thanks
god bless
