Hello friends,
I have accepted a prematch position via eras email and got a confirmation email from the program saying i should withdraw from the match and cancel my interviews now although for them to send us the contract might take 2 more weeks. Meanwhile other reliable sources tell me that contract can take upto feb from that program. As of now i have stopped attending more interviews (cancelled them or resechduled it to feb) atleast till the 2nd week of Jan.
What should i do now. I am in contact with other people who have accepted the position in the same program and no one has the contract so far, some have cancelled ivs some havent.
Do you think the eras email is proof enough.
In my personal view, i trust the PD and that program completely, just need your opinion.
Thank you.

Finally some good news from a senior otherwise everyone was going bleek.

Congrats, If you trust the PD and find her or him reliable then make a final call and ask him and then decide...

Anyways BBB would be the person to answer this scenario or other seniors.

Congrats.

Congrat, Sarika.

Since the contract sometimes arrives very late(they have to adjust the salary and everything annually), some programs will email/mail u a "letter of intent" with the PD's signature on it(usually a pdf file), and if u r really interested in it, print the file out, sign it, keep a copy of ur own, then send another copy back to the program before the given date. It's an official document instead of contract.

I dont know if email counts from a judicial point of view.

Cancel your interviews. You've been offered!

Thank you so much all of you. You guys give me strength and guide me in every step. Special Thank you for BBB who has always been here to help us in this nerve wrecking saga!
Actually i felt unethical when i attended two interviews after accepting the offer thru email so have cancelled the ones i had in rest of dec and early jan.
Ram, since i have already attended 11 interviews i guess God forbid if something goes wrong i will just enter match from there.
By the way, whats the last date to withdraw from NRMP match?
I have been in contact will 3 more candidates who accepted prematch in the same program and all of them received the same message regarding contract so i guess thats how they do things. It is an IM program.
Again, Thank you so much. I will pray for each one of you and i will be around.

Not necessarily. When I worked at a program that offered prematches, we never had the contract back from the board that approved salaries in enough time to offer contracts. We used a letter of intent. We never backed out.

On the other hand we were burned by applicants who accepted our pre-match and then never backed out of the match, submitted a list and were matched into programs. Which then meant that we had to scramble for a person.

Thank you from program coordinators around the country for cancelling your interviews. You are correct, it's the ethical thing to do. Strong Work and congrats and good luck!
