I sure do dream of doing my residency in USA....but am I willing to put my heart and soul into achieving it?How much am I willing to sacrifice to realize my dreams???And to think of it ,the only sacrifice I need to make really is my own laziness ,my lack of motivation and my lack of faith in my abilities at times......It surprises me to think that all these years( since I graduated in 2003 Oct) I have been working, and blaming the whole world of getting in the way of me achieving my goals....and suddenly, Lo and behold!!!!!The whole world has left me all alone with myself....and still I fail to run towards my dreams..........This is the Irony of life!!!!!I am left with all the time in the world to work towards reaching my goals....24 hrs a day with nothing to do other than prepare for USMLE...Whats stopping me now!?!Why do I still lack the zeal??????!!!!!Whats standing between me and my dreams now????Other than my own inertia and laziness!

If this is not an opportunity then i dont know what is?!?I have no great immediate worries, no immediate responsibilities...no great sorrows....nothing that will sap my attention......My exam already booked...and all I have to do is prepare for it!There's nothing to stop me now...and it would be a shame if I dont grab the opportunity and work hard like never before ...and make it happen!!!!

thanks for dropping by at my journal
the nbme scores don't matter
what matters is the real exam
and i have been studying so haphazardly
i like d way u r studying ..
keep it up
and please do ur second read and q's fast and get over in time for ur exam date
it is better to tackle this exam as if it were a war-like serious affair and get over with it than to loom over it for many months .. believe me it can get frustrating if u delay too much

it is better to tackle this exam as if it were a war-like serious affair and get over with it than to loom over it for many months .. believe me it can get frustrating if u delay too much

Did not study y'day and today...a cousin was visiting.!!!!That was unavoidable!
So I cant do anything about itraised eyebrow.....and today isnt over
Its 6. 20pm now.....still can study for atleast 5 hrs .....so lets be alittle proactive girl and save this daynod

Well, did not study much,just did a couple of chapters of genetics....guess I was really tired, driving my cousin around town the whole day!Feeling sleepy...woud wake up early and start a brand new day!nod

I badly wanna wake up early( atleast 5.45 am and start studying at 6 am)rolling eyes
Every morning my alarm clock goes off at 5.45am, 2 voices start a conversation in my head(And I swear I am not a schizophrenic.shaking head...believe me pleasegrin)! Well one voice is real strong and persuasive...says " you sure deserve to be in bed a little longer: , its cold and the bed is so warm and cozy...just an hr wont hurt,will it " and it goes on!!!!!!The other voice is soft, I can barely hear it unless I try real hardgrin...it says "You have to jump out of bed...thats what you truly want......it will make you feel so positive! And you have to be a leader of your own self, and doing what you plan to do will sharpen your will power,and make you a better person.."This voice goes on soft and steady.......Rarely does the positive voice wins, becoz what it suggests is difficult....!confused

Well, I so badly wanna win the "Battle Of The BED"!!!!!For me waking up early is like telling myself that I am up and ready to chase my dreams...and really my productivity goes down after 11pm......And I think I am a morning person....(except, when Im partying ofcourse !)And when I am real close to the exam, then the time doesnt really matter does itraised eyebrow

Some tactis to help me get up early:(picked up from books)

1."EARLY DINNER":

Atleast 4 hrs before going to bed...(After that, if hungry can snack on some fruits)...It will increase the quality of sleep! Afterall "Its the QUALITY, and not the quantity of sleep that more important"

2."DONT LOUNGE IN BED": after your alarm clock goes off!Just jump out of bed and start your day!"

(If it helps just remember Nike's slogan "JUST DO IT"grin)

3."GET INTO WORLD CLASS PHYSICAL CONDITION"...

.Well this is sooooo true! And it affects a lot if areas of life...it increase the positivity factor, increases will power.etc, etc.....Well, I'm not in 'world class', physical condition, but I go to the gym 5 to 6 days a week cool

4."SET BIG AUDACIOUS GOALS: "Goals breath life and energy into your days"

And ofcourse , our goals...USMLE Step 1 -99

5.SET YOUR ALARM CLOCK 30 min fast:

This sounds silly, but it works for me...worth a try

6.GIVE IT 30 DAYS:"It takes time to overcome the pull of old habits"

After all the most energy demanding process in the cardiac cycle is 'Isovolumetric contraction'!wink

And if the above doesnt work ........I will just remind myself about what the smart Benjamin Franklin said
There will be plenty of time to sleep when you are dead"grin

Going real slow....sad! Just did one chapter of genetics and revised chapters 1to6 of immuno. Yet to do path.
God ! If I go at this rate will I be able to take the test in Apr.....disapprovalshaking headconfused.
Now I''l go to the gym and get back and do some more.rolling eyes

Have been away from journal world.....and not so much with books either....another long break !Sulking, feeing sad and mad and disapproval and shaking head............! just 2 months...confused

I have snapped back out of it now.......rolling eyes....have to really study like mad from now!No more wasting time....no more excuses......shaking head..Please God...put some sense into me!I really need it!

gringringringrin I am obsessed with it!gringringrin.........And lately I find myself turn into an Insomniacrolling eyesrolling eyesrolling eyes
I sleep at 3 or sometimes at 4 am and wake up terribly late.....have been trying to change that habit , but in vain!shaking head

Just woke up now......have to rush to study......Looks like today again the same story!rolling eyes

thank you, usavy, you lifted me up in my depressed time, i wish i could tell you that i did great, i wish i made only 100 questions wrong out of 300 questions. I will keep praying, it can happen if only God want, if i made less mistake or if my judgement was clear. Anyway, lets focus on you now,lol.

i agree with your plans, i also had problems getting up early, i would stop the alarm clock, only last days i got up, even before the alarm rang, out of anxiety. Keep reading usavy, yep, setting a goal higher works, you are doing great.nod

hmm i have twp alarm clocks one cell phone to wake me up everyday ..
my husband wakes up early because of them ..
not meraised eyebrow
i hope the neighbours don't get disturbed

lol, milee, my husband doesnt even need alarm, he set his biological alarm and advise me to do so, i told him, my biological clock broke, and it need repair. only way to get up for me is wake up when he leaves house.smiling face

Well,today I woke up at 6.45am......Actually I woke up at 4am and I was likeshocked:eek.when i saw the time.......what me at this time...no way...and went back to sleepsadsadsad!Had I stared studying then at 4am I wud have done with 3hr of solid studying by now....anyways...not too late....not at all! So now to booksnodnodnod

Todays target: 1.Immuno chapters 1 to 10
2.Inflammation and repair
3.BS:Substance abuse, Human sexuality
All this before 7pm.....nod
