What are the most common causes of PEDIATRIC MENINGITIS in the following age groups:

1. Newborn

2. 1mo - 2 yrs

3. 2-18 yrs

4. Adult

I am also confused regarding this thing. Different sources say diff things. Anyone please..

Here are the answers (from #1MCC to #3 cause) according to UW:

1. Newborn
GBS, Listeria, S. pneumo

2. 1mo - 2 yrs
S. pneumo, Nisseria, GBS

3. 2-18 yrs
Neisseria, S.pneumo, H. influ

4. Adult
S. pneumo -(they didn't mention other causes)

As I remember from Step 1FA, they said for babies (not sure if that means newborns as well as infants) the MCC were in order: GBS, E. coli, Listeria...

Any other comments or additions from other sources would be greatly appreciated.

Kap says:
2mo to 12 yrs:
S. pneumo, N. meningitidis, H. influ.
