can someone tell me the differrence btw clerkship and extership and which one is better. ? is it worth to spend money and get into clerkship program offered by americlerkship ?

I was told clerkship is not possible for IMG it is what the medical student does
externship is same thing but for IMG I heard many different definition, but whatever you do make sure you dont do private practice only and you work with an MD not a PA, my friend paid all this money and she worked with a PA

Thank you so much Harish and silver for answering my queries. I did go thru the thread to find the difference and i was almost on the verge of paying Americlerkship for the externship program. They have clearly stated on their contract that they do not guarentee that the clinical trainee would get into hospital setting, it will depend on the MD they would be rotating with.Infact they will be paying huge amount just to get some experience in outpatient clinics.
i even did some survey on my part just to see how much important is do externship than observership. well obviously it is important but is not the final criteria for their selection , many things come in to play while matching
a friend of mine , who did observership and her scores were okay , managed to get so many interviews, and i even asked her that in how many interviews were she asked for onhand experience and she said only one program asked me. u will find many examples of people who got into prematch without any american experince. it is good to have this experience but if not ,it will definetly not ruin any ones chances of getting into residency.Getting LOR on a letterhead of teaching hospital even if u have done observership is worth rather than paying huge amount for externship and ending in a private practice. Americlerkship also do not dislcose with whom u will be working till 72hours before ur rotation .
any one who needs information regarding americlerkship , can ask me , rather than calling them cos they get u just to trap u 
anyone in houston texas, can apply for obersership in Methdosit hospital , it is still affiliated to baylor college.
