Hi, Just woke up this morning to check my email and there it was, an email from FSMB. My body went numb and I could feel my heart pound. Well i'm like that for every result so no biggie. I went on to their site and there it was PASS, 87/211. It's the lowest i've scored in the usmle but I guess it's ok. Some say that they dont look at step 3 scores that much and anything above 80 is suppose to be ok, so thats some consolation. I was pretty scared about this exam especially since I had heard from so many people that it's real tough and I think I have figured out why.... Asmost all of us dont take the exam seriously yes, even me, since at the back of our mind we know it doesnt count as much. So all I have to say is study for it like you would for steps 1 and ck. The questions are definitly different that step 2CK and atleast for me the questions were more graphic, not like in the other steps where you read the question and not look at the slide you could still ge the answer. The ccs was a new twist but if you trust your clinical experience over the years (mind you I graduated in 2006 so it's not like I'm all seasoned) and done pretty well in the other steps you should be fine. Just take your time to think out the patient approach plan as you have 25 minutes of REAL TIME and dont rush to finish your case. I did that for the first two cases and made a total mess of it. Just be calm and cool and you guys and gals' should do just fine. My litrature for step 3 was the Step 2 CK Kaplan books (I didnt like their step 3 books so didnt use them) and the cases on UW. MCQ's was from the Kaplan Qbook, and Qbank and to see how I was doing, I used the NBME. the details are in the exam section. Good luck guys and take it easy.

hey zygone... I came to work and found out that my score was ready because it was avaliable though myeras, a few hours later I got the email and I passed... with a very bad 79 but at least I passed... as you said, the problem is that we didn't take the exam very seriously, so you guys should not make that mistake. As far as the CCS I think that is the fun part of the exam. the questions are torture because they are extremely long and it seems like it is never going to end... anyway the exam was soo boring that I had to take a brake and a speed nap because I couldn't keep my eyes open. So keep in mind to not come to the exam that tired.

I did not complete all my computer cases. In fact, I only opened 8. Now I have to choose whether or not to have my exam scored. If I dont want it to be scored, it will be marked as "incomplete examination " on my transcript. How will that affect me anyone know or have similar experience? I feel reasonably ok about MCQs. Nobody died on the cases I completed. One person felt much better. The others had no change in disposition. I just want to pass. Any suggestions on whether or not I should have this exam scored? Thanks for your input
