I'm thinking about e " atrophic gastritis " due to decrease absorption of vit.D and Calcium as well .

The osteopenia can result from osteomalacia, the adult form of vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is one of the fat-soluble vitamins, and it requires fat absorption,which can be impaired by
1.-Chronic cholestatic liver disease
2.-Biliary tract disease
3.-Pancreatic disease.
Heart disease from atherosclerosis does not affect bone density.Emphysema can result in a hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, but not osteopenia. Leukemias do not tend to erode bone. Atrophic gastritis affects vitamin B12 absorption.
