It's appropriate for you to tell me that you are ranking me #1, but not appropriate for you to ask me where I am going to rank you.

bbb, I am wondering what the program thinks about " I will rank them No.1". Does the program think I am too aggresive, or the program is happy to hear it ? Sometimes, I learned that applicants should not be so aggressive while some others said I should show my strong interest to the program. Which is right ?

My honest answer? I take it with a grain of salt. If I had a nickel for every resident who tells me that they are ranking me number one, then I wouldn't be working here. But aggressive, no, I don't think that. If you don't want to say #1, tell the program that you think they are among the best 2-3 programs that you saw and you'd be happy to do your residency there.

bbb, in your program do u get many that say they r going to rank u no.1 and then u rank them high but they don't match with you, in other words they were lying. i don't mean to take up your time with stupid questions but it will give us insight into how seriously you take it when applicant says that.

We go by our gut feeling and how we like an applicant. You have to remember that less than 40% of applicants even send thank you notes or emails.....

I am happy to hear that less than half of the applicants send thank you letters, I really think it is a waste of time, and did not do it for any of my interviews. But now I felt like I wouldn't be ranked because I didn't honestly bbb do you think this make any difference? if it does, is it appropriate to send a TY letter after about 1 month?

All I can answer for is my program - we won't rank anyone down because they didn't send me a thank you. I wouldn't worry about it. If you do feel that you should, you can send now for any interview "Now that I am compiling my rank list, I am considering your program at the top of my list" or something similar. Good luck
