i hv read a thread in rxpgonline.com stating that if u get a score of 99,the mediocre programs dont consider calling u for intvw as they think 99 ers wouldn't join in their program anyway, and there is a possibility that u get less intvw calls. http://www.rxpgonline.com/postlite77982-.html.che... this out for yourself..is that really true?

Sounds familiar to me and promising to those who aren't 99x2-ers (I guess the majority of this forum)...
I am not sure if any PD believes that the 99-er will be very picky in deciding on where to go... But, it's also important to establish yourself as a professional in an academic field, with some research/teaching experience... Several PDs told me that they are not interested in 23-24 y/o 99-ers from nowhere and prefer to speak to just and simply a smart guy with truly skillful hands... Remember that most of AMGs spend their summers (and even optional years) in the labs doing research during the medschool time...

yeah, yeah the ever vivid discussion about double 99erssmiling face))))

yep, nowadays it's that magic number does not mean much! a pd was showing me his statistics for this year - out of 3300 applications (!) he said that a couple of hundred have double 99 and another several hundred where at least one of the scores is a 99...to his opinion people just put in a diffrent effort/time than before and it does not mean as much anymore. he personally goes with foreign schools he has already experienced before and does not stray from them much. so good scores are only part of the game. A good friend loves to remind me: IT'S THE TOTAL PACKAGE! a lot of programs look for applicants who "fit" into their program.

the match is such a random game sometimes...We gotta play it! As to the people with 15+ interviews- how do you guys afford to go to all of them??? timewise and moneywise....Nobody can convince me that they would attend 20 IVs!!! forget about the time and money- psychologically that would bring me over the edge! and I would totally lose overview, it will be just a horrible mess in my head. So what do you do with the rest of the IVs? I ask you to be reasonable and cancel the ones you don't really want ON TIME...I have now reached my limit (9) but others are still waiting full of hope.

Please be fair. With that said: good luck to everyone and I really mean it!!!
