1. A 14 yr old child is brought by his parents to doctor for resp infection. the family just moved to US from europe. upon exam sweat test is positive. what would u see during pulmonary function test? also hes most likely to get infection by which of the organism..choices are : P. aeruginoa, S.aureus, Candida, Toxoplamosis. why would the child be infertile? 2. 58 yr old man is admitted to hospital for mass in lower right lobe. upon futher exam it is found to be malignant. due to extent of mass spread into the lung..he is suggested that part of the lung be removed. what would be his PFTs be after removal of the lung lobe? what growth change would you expect to see in other lobes? hypertropy, hyperplasia, no change or metaplasia. 3. A 70 yr man with comes with dyspnea, tachypena. upon histotry BP of 180/105. he says he forgets to take his BP medication many times...Xray reveal LVH. what is the cause of dyspnea? what would u do..if u were to do RFT? what kinda defect would it be...diffusion related, perfusion related, ventilation related? good luck.

what I remember from step 2 is that since he is a candidate for surgery, then his PFTs should be 85% or above or else surgery wouldn't have been an option

Ans 1..patients of cystic fibrosis are more likely to be infected by Pseudomonas Aueroginosa and these patientz suffer from infertility because of Congenital block or absense of vas defrens in males and in females the mucus is way too thick to let sperm pass through that...in addition the PFTs will be affected in the patients of CF ,PFTs determine the severity of disease... Ans 2..Hypertrophy as a result of resection but it ll not be the complete one...besides almost all the PFTs will be affected...
