yes kg i have discovered my style of Goljan,i will listen first and write along and then read text.it suits me more than the other method.
and friends i will be writing step1 in april now,so i will make a new prep plan accordingly.i have time so i don't need to rush up things unnecessarily and mess up.soon i'l be back with a new schedule.

hey Fyred Up and miss Deja,that bookshop guy really fooled me.... but its too bothersome to go there again and waste my time,so i think i'l manage with what i have.
i have downloaded Goljan slides also ,so it should be okay.what do you say?

yes you are right i will make a good study plan.i am an Indian citizen ,and have no priveliges like a green card or so, am thinking of giving step 3 after CS,will give CS in june,but i don't know how much time is needed to prepare for step 3..... still ignorant,but currently i am trying to focus only on the one in hand ie step1.when will you give step1?

SOS, I m an Indian too, ,wanna give step 1 by april end or may 1st week,i need to give step 3 after dat,for H1.meanwhile my CS results will be out ,may be after jan 30,i m worried about dat too,

its 2 pm already and i did nothing but waste my time until now........... now i am going to do DR Goljan's lecture,Cell injury 2 and then follow it up with reading the text.no further plans.... i'l take this day as it comes ,shall try to make the best of what ever time i'm left with ,and will come back and write how it went.

hi all
I'm doing only Dr Goljan's audio lectures ,but it takes me a long time to complete even one of them coz I take notes along with it and even though it slows me down a lot and is quite exhaustive,it suits me...... I feel this is the way I learn the most out of them.
I must say one thing,he's tooooooooooooo good. I'd tried doing his step2 lectures but I was too impatient and restless and actually didn't even complete one of them,may be also because I was running short on time.... still don't know about the step2 pars but his pathology lectures are wonderful.I have till date completed only four of them but I recommend them to all of you who happen to have missed them
I'm going very slow with them,but I have no regrets about it coz I feel the time spent listening to him and writing down what he says is time well spent. and to be honest I've not been studying fulltime either today I spent almost two hours playing with my landlord's kids and chasing & try to catch some puppies in the neighbourhood. and not to forget all the time I spend daily surfing the internet and on google.... but the good thing is I've got rid of the temptation of orkutting and spending hours on this forum too.
its quite an addiction ,this prep4usmle.I'm sure most of you will agree.but i'm trying hard to cut down my addictions....
so hopefully very soon ,I'll have everything under control.and number one on the list is my time to wake up in the mornings.... Its only after 11am that I wake up i n the morning.... you won't believe friends,sometimes I get phone calls early morning,i take the calls,and then go right back to sleep.i really want to wake up early morning but    any tips on this one???
and now its time for me to go to sleep and I will once again put up the alarm for 8am,like I do every night and I will try my best not to shut it and sleep again.
will tell you tomorrow morning if i'm successful.

ooooooopssssssssssss !!!!
i should've slept an hour back but i'm still up posting messages in journalssome thinga are easier said than done....
well friends,the latest news is i just scheduled my CS for june 3rd 2008.please advice me when should i plan my step1 so that after step1 i have just enough time to prepare for the CS as well as finish off all that is needed for processing my visa for CS.i have no idea........... all suggestions are welcome.... all i want is to plan it in a way so that i can prepare well for step1 and then have enough time left before CS to finish off everything.
and now i'm off to sleep.
and i think i'm going to set up the alarm for 9 ...... or maybe even later but it really doesn't matter ,coz i've grown into a habit of putting it off and going right back to sleep

it took 18 days for CS PREPARATION FOR ME,I DONNO IF i m gonna pass or not,but i am gonna assume dat i m gonnu pass until proven otherwise,i think 20 days is enuf for CS,just 2 give an idea to plan ahead,GL

SOS i have scheduled my CS for the end of MAy..but i'll be done with my step 1 by march..but i've heard that it akes 2 weeks to study for cs but u can take 1 month max i guess

hi ck. i'm doing fine.well for your better understanding,let me tell you that this isn't really my first read coz this isn't my first attempt either......... i failed my first attempt in step1 which i gave in april 2007,but the clock has gone a full circle and i'm going to give the same exam,almost about the same time of the year too but this time with a much better preparation.
i will give step1 in april first half. and there are a few things i've learnt from my previous step1 and step2 experiences........ since there are so many chances of things going wrong and not being able to meet deadlines i intend to be preparing such that i am all ready by the end of march.
i lost many days recently so i had to change my previous plans and also scrap the old study plan i made...... today i worked out a new plan for myself and it goes as follow
i'l finish papi's lectures by Dec26
Dec27 to Jan 20: i want to finish the kaplan material (i'd done it earlier too) and also BRS physio which will be first time,and HY Gross Anat and Neuro anat,which is again new to me.
Jan21 to 31: second read ,with kaplan q book
Feb1- i plan to take a UW sub for 30 days
henceforth i want to do first round of questions along with jotting notes where required in 15 days......... i don't know if it will work but i will try my best.and i will review my notes at the end of each day so as i know what i have learnt and don't end up writing the same things again later.
then 16 to 28th feb i'l do a second round of questions and in the remaining days of sub i will check out all the incorrect and marked questions....
and yes during this time i will also read FA..... in small installments
so by around 3rd march i would have done 2 reads of all the stuff ,one read of FA and UW with revision. for the remaining time i will read all this again,and also will start the kaplan q bank questions,will concentrate on my weak areas..... also i think i will take NBME sometime in march second week,the reason why i want to take it so early is,so that i can work on my weak areas............ and i need time to do that before i hit the actual exam.
see if it helps you in anyway.i will try my best to stick to this plan but this is life............. and my life has seldom worked as i planned............. but still i believe its better to have a plan than no plan at all.
my fingers are crossed............ you will understand this as you go along my journal with time and life unfolds its hidden surprises..................

do you know,who's the greatest teacher on this universe....?
i think its LIFE.it teaches you as you live......... but it doesn't bother whether you learn or not,it goes on at its own pace......... infact its a wicked teacher,it makes you draw your own lessons from the events you see or live by,and its up to you to learn or not.if you learn its good for you ,and if you don't you will regret at some point when you'd least expect that its going to test you on the same thing.
well all i want to say here is,learn from life,learn from mistakes you make and also the mistakes others make.............. its even better if you learn from the good things happening in life,not only yours but in other's around you too.the more you learn the better it treats you ..... so keep learning in whatever way it chooses to teach you.
i've not gone insane .i'm writing all this here coz i felt like sharing it with you.and i will also write some of the things i've learnt in my own life during the course of my step1 and step2 preparation.i think it might help you in your prep.

you are right about life dear, feels like im left behind and evrything else is moving so fast and life sure is a wicked teacher !! will learn from my previous mistakes when i didnt hd tht much courage to take the exam and once again im facing it and its makin me lose my senses ....even though i have 5 months left but still thinking bout it gives me chills ..not tht im scared of hard work but i hope my study schedule works out at the end of the day !!! so many confusions and so many worries !! i hp god gives all of us the courage to hold on to this and keep moving at this pace !!

See u around, keep up ur plan , read well , rushing is no good , u still using same or more time when rush & back to re read well, so do it well at 1st after one read of knowing rough idea of all in general .
