hi, which country are u from? The best time to apply for a visa is when u are already finished with both step 1 and 2ck and got ur results. Then you can apply for a visitor's visa to take the step 2 cs. In us embassy manila, i was only asked for my step 1 and ck results. She also asked what's my present job. But, the consul didnt even bother to take a look at my visa letter from ecfmg and other documents. In the end, she gave me 10 yrs multiple entry b1/b2 visa. Be prepared for ur documents just incase.

I'm joining the 2009 matching and will take CS in april. If u plan to join the 2009 matching, you should be registered to take cs by august 2008.

hey, doc harry. i'm from the philippines, too. it's comforting to know that the US embassy here does give out B1 visas for step 2 cs. I must say the V Word is what I am most worried about, more than having to prepare for the exams! At least for the exams one knew what to do to achieve his goal. But with the horrifying stories about the embassy here... I don't know how to maximize my chances at succeeding at this endeavor. By the way, I've taken Step 1 & Step 2 CK but am still waiting for the results of the latter. So, I guess I'll wait for the result first, huh?

hi george_md! I was too apprehensive before i applied for a visa because of some horrifying stories I heard regarding visa application. I knew people who were denied even with 99 on both step 1 and ck. I guess it's really a matter of luck. DO u have present job? I think it is important to show the consul that ur working as a physician here coz it matters to them. I agree that u wait for the ck result just in case the consul asks for it. God Bless.

I think you don't have anything to worry about regarding visa application gearge_md. You have a strong ties of coming back to the P.I. so I dont think visa is an issue anymore. But be ready with your certificate of employment if you work in a hospital or business certificate and tax returns if you own a private clinic. God bless.

Hi krit! You need to pay 100$ for the ds 157 form in an accredited bank in india, if youre in india. Then you can fill-up and print the ds 156 form online. Schedule your visa appointment via visapoint. check on the us embassy website in india regarding applying for a visitors visa.

depends on what consulate in india u plan to have ur interview. just go to google and type us embassy india and you will see the website for each consulate in india.
